My Good Friends

One of my closest friends is no longer my close friend even, not because we quarrelled, but matrimonial alliance alienating good / close friends! I would not like to name him.

I recently re-established contact with one of my oldest friends.  This link was revived after an unbelievable 48 plus years!  Much to my chagrin I find that the gentleman is no longer the innocent, aspiring enthusiast, but has become dulled by bitter experiences in life.

On the brighter side, two of my friends have been best pals with me for the past more than 40 years.  They are very happy that my association with them has introduced them to the delights of carnatic music.  One of them married because of my influence and is happier for it.

Many of my friends have been helping me financially in days of dire need. They look at it with an unemotional abandon.  But not me.  I cherish the timely help rendering by these loving souls and would ever remain grateful to them for their generosity.  You may ask, what is money between friends, but do not forget the age old proverb that money breaks friendship.  Fortunately or unfortunately I have always been at the receiving end.

I do not know if you expect the friends to be named.  They would definitely not like it since they consider it cheapens the value of our association!!

I am not able to connect what is intended when I am told that I have not written about BP. BP as we know is Blood Pressure.

One more interesting incident happened to me. Long ago, someone accosted me on the road and fondly enquired after me. I could not recall his name or connect his association with me. When I mentioned this, he appeared to be visibly sad but would not help me with his identity. All he said was " Well if you do not remember after all that has happened between us I have no mind to remind you.." and walked off.

To this day, I regret that I have been most undiplomatic in eliciting information about him.
